Finding the Perfect Griddle

Griddles are the perfect way to expand what you can cook.  Eggs, pancakes, panini, burgers, seared steak, hash browns – the list seems endless.  But you have a problem.  What kind of griddle is perfect for your needs? There are three choices of griddles: the griddle pan, the double burner griddle, and the electric griddle.  After reading this article, you will be equipped with the skills to make a good decision about your griddle needs.

First, you must consider the volume of cooking you wish to do with your griddle.  If you are cooking for just yourself or you and a special someone, a griddle pan or a smaller electric griddle would be sufficient for your needs.  If you have a larger family or regularly cook for a group, you will need a larger surface that the double-burner griddle or larger model electric griddle.

Next, your storage space.  You have to ask yourself the question if you have counter space or room in the cupboards to store the larger electric griddle.  If space is a challenge in your kitchen, the flatter griddle pan or double burner griddle would be better choices for you.  It would be quite a disappointment to select with care your griddle, but forget that you have to find a place for it in your kitchen.

Finally, you must decide how important certain features are.  Would you like the option to drain off fat from your cooking meat, like you could with some models of the electric griddle?  Would you like the griddle to be made of classic cast iron, like many griddle pans and double-burner griddles?  Would you like the cleaning surface to be removable for easy cleaning, like some electric griddles?  Would you like the griddle to be dishwasher safe, like some griddle pans?

All of these factors are important to selecting the griddle perfect for your kitchen and cooking lifestyle.  Now you can select your griddle and enjoy that dream meal that you never had the proper tools for before.
